H1 CHINESE LANGUAGE (JC1 TO JC2)

2 hours per week

    • Aligned with the latest MOE syllabus and exam requirements for H1 Chinese Language

    • Master listening, speaking, reading and writing skills to score in exams

    • Build up vocabulary and improve reading comprehension skills through regular practices and feedback

    • Sharpen essay writing skills in a variety of genres – narrative, expository and argumentative essays

    • Practise listening comprehension, oral presentation and discussion skills based on exam-oriented audio and video clips of various types (including daily conversations, radio broadcast, interviews, story and news reports)

    • Acquire thematic content knowledge that can be applied in essay writing and oral exams

    • Themes covered include: Personal Growth, Culture and Society, Environment and Mass Media

 

H2 CHINESE LANGUAGE & LITERATURE (JC1 TO JC2)

2 hours per week

    • Aligned with the latest MOE syllabus and exam requirements for H2 Chinese Language and Literature

    • Master critical exam skills of reading comprehension (32.5%), essay writing (17.5%) and literary analysis (50%) to score in exams

    • Master the process of writing good essays of various genres, including narrative, descriptive, expository and argumentative

    • Exposure to reading materials of a wide variety of genres, text types (including commentary, news reports, notice, advertisement, poster, business proposals, blog articles and emails) and cultural contexts to strengthen students’ ability in comprehension and analytical skills

    • Sharpen skills to critically evaluate authors’ choice of form, structure and language in various types of literary works, including literary classics, poetry, contemporary novels, contemporary drama

    • Develop sensitivity to linguistic nuances and the influence of culture while interpreting literary texts

    • Provide ample exposure to commonly tested question types and hands-on practice for the analysis of unseen prose and poetry

    • Impart answering techniques and essay writing skills for literary analysis

    • Practise crafting insightful, well-substantiated and coherent responses to exam questions

 

GENERAL STUDIES IN CHINESE (JC1 TO JC2)

    • Aligned with the latest MOE syllabus and exam requirements for H1 General Studies in Chinese

    • Master critical exam skills of reading comprehension and essay writing to score in exams

    • Gain content knowledge in themes according to the exam syllabus including: Singapore’s society, economy and education system, Chinese culture and customs, economic development model of the 4 Asian Tigers, ASEAN countries, globalisation and environmental sustainability

    • Apply content knowledge and analytical skills to formulate insightful and coherent responses to the comprehension and essay questions

 

H1 CHINESE EXAM CRASH COURSE

Only available during March, June, September and December Holidays

For students who need an intensive and exam-focused revision for all components of the “A” Level exam

    • Cover all major components of the “A” Level H1 Chinese exam in this intensive course
